Alan S. Blinder - esteemed Princeton professor, Wall Street Journal columnist, and former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board under Alan Greenspan - is one of our wisest and most clear-eyed economic thinkers. In After the Music Stopped, he delivers a masterful narrative of how the worst economic crisis in postwar American history happened, what the government did to fight it, and what we must do to recover from it. With bracing clarity, Blinder chronicles the perfect storm of events beginning in 2007, from the bursting of the housing bubble to the implosion of the bond bubble, and how events in the U.S. spread throughout the interconnected global economy. Truly comprehensive and eminently listenable, After the Music Stopped is the essential book about the financial crisis.

This book was from 2013, before we hit the $30 Trillion Debt ceiling. And now with China, Russia, the Middle East and many other countries (and possibly France) are moving away from American Dollars to the Chinese yen, America (and much of Europe) will likely fail, with China and its allies becoming what America was in the 1950’s & 60’s.
This is the price we pay for the stupidly of moving all our industry and tech to China, and supporting it by making Walmart so huge. USA will fall, and it is going to be very very bad. Think Germany at the end of WW2. That’s what we get for not producing and buying in America.

It is interesting to get an account from insiders, but I doubt its analysis will stand up to the likes of “Crashed: How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World by Adam Tooze”, as well as those by Yanis Varoufakis and Michael Hudson. Because insiders have certain limitations and protocol that would expel them from these old boys’ networks if they were to be completely blunt and honest.

“Think Germany at the end of WW2.”
You mean that time that america destroyed a flourishing and hardworking Germany?
We’ve been nothing but a problem for the world since 1913.
