“Mr. Taylor, who was widely portrayed as a hero in both Canada and the U.S. after he and embassy risked their lives to hide the six hostages, said that any depiction of Canadians as having been virtual bystanders is historically inaccurate and unfair.
He applauded former U.S. President Jimmy Carter for appearing on CNN on Thursday night to assert that, “90 per cent of the contributions to the ideas and the consummation of the plan was Canadian.”
“I think it was pretty well clarified by President Carter’s remarks,” Mr. Taylor said today. “He said it was 90 per cent to 10 per cent. I could make it 85 to 15, but I can rest with 90-10.”

Hollywood did the same with the Great Escape - there were no Americans involved in the actual great escape. Canadians, Brits & other non American allies.
I could spend all day listing & providing evidence all the times Americans & America have stolen credit for others inventions, discoveries & great deeds. It’s what the insecure do.
