I really wish some of these people would go and sit in a classroom for at least a year to really figure out what is being taught. As a teacher, this narrative is so out of touch of the reality of education that it’s very alarming. BTW, this is coming from a Libertarian NOT a Liberal. They aren’t shoving some liberal agenda on your kids, they’re just not promoting your ultra-conservative views either.

Even in “real countries” foundation year in university is often spent fixing too many gratuitous inexactitudes; and introducing the young adults to fairly elementary concepts with which they ought long to have been conversant.
The state school systems in the US & the UK have been failing their students for a long time. In 2020, under the ironically titled “No Child Left Behind” Act, 82% of America’s 100,000 public schools received failing grades.
Whatever about people’s favoured systems, there’s no excuse for getting the basics so catastrophically wrong.

It’s weird that the premise of this book seems to be ‘my indoctrination is the only correct indoctrination’. Now, if the argument was about the dwindling Civics education received in schools, sure, there’s room for improvement. A classical Christian education wouldn’t even resemble the education received by the Founding Fathers since the period is called Enlightenment specifically to separate it from when churches were the educators. Apparently, according to the authors, there is such a thing as being too educated. They don’t hate America, they dislike the choices of our government. They roll their eyes at religion because, well, they got indoctrinated with knowledge, and they disdain history because they aren’t allowed to learn it, not correctly, and are not allowed to think about history in the context of its time. Doing so might make white kids uncomfortable. I venture that if you’re studying history right, EVERYONE is uncomfortable. Certainly nobody should be bored.

The only thing your politicians and the politics of your country explain is why the US is so much further down the collapse road than other so called advanced nations. There’s no great reset that’s more US white conservative denial to the limits to growth. Climate denying conservatives probably thought the climate change ‘thing’ was just environmentalists over blowing a minor threat so they could score some social points from their tribes. Just a few years ago I would have trashed this book with one star like so many of you. But drag queen strippers becoming part of the school curriculum is a game changer. The indoctrination of children has got to stop, whether that indoctrination is fundamentalist Christianity or the queer/trans agenda.

Apnea & Thamus, thanks for the books, I will read them. Born in 1958, the world was a far different place. I have been been warning about population growth since the 1980’s, and people today see no problem with it. And education in the USA has dropped behind a number of countries, and has stagnated. A lot of change is needed, but The WEF and Klaus Schwab is talking about globalization and the great reset. They have the power to do these tings, and are moving ahead with their agendas. How this will end up for us is anyone’s guess, but control is definitely going to be a big part of it, esp when we move to a digital currency. Yea, we need change bad, if our weather doesn’t wipe us out first.

As an educator experienced in teaching at k-12 both in the US and Asia, I approve @kevin_gumm’s message that this is a garbage book on US public education.

LOL. From the title I knew it would go one of two ways:
1. “Liberal” assertions that our teaching of history still endorses the myths and stereotypes that endured through the 50s and 60s such as Columbus discovering America and being a decent human being, or a gilded teaching of the founding that seemed to suggest that slavery somehow “snuck by” our glorious founders, but that it, and all of the problems that it caused, we’re fixed by the Civil War… Which was really more about states rights than slavery. (Which I guess is true if you are talking about the “states right” to allow slavery.) I went to school in the 80s in a Red State yet was somehow taught that these were myths back then.
2. “Conservative” assertions that all of the problems of our nation could be fixed if we went back to the “historical” standard of a Christian education that supports family values like we had in the 50s… like baseball, two parent homes, lynching minorities, apple pie, and segregation. Back when men were men and it wasn’t rape if you bought dinner first.
Also, all that darn homosexual indoctrination is ruining our kids ability to learn math and English… which is made even more evil when you realize that the homosexuals tend to do better academically than the straight people on average.
What was absolutely clear was that it was not going to be written by a historian. Historians generally do a good job of trying to get as close to the truth as the most recent research will allow them to.
