I don’t understand if its the book itself or if the audio is just messed up but the narrator repeatedly defines McCarthyism and it’s effect on civil liberties and free speech and it’s “chilling effect”. Around 2:48, the same sentence is read repeatedly nearly word for word.
I searched the PDF for “chilling effect on” and the phrase is used 3 times on page 84. I noticed similar phrases being used repeatedly on the chapter about the Berlin airlift.
The audio is good, the torrent is good, but the book is horribly repetitive and poorly written. It feels like it was summarized based on what was learned in a university level history class and now the author has to stretch their thesis to meet the assignment requirements.
