Very true. This is the reason why tanks (& other resources) were not initially designed for conflict in desert settings. Post WW2 the high command & politicians expected the next major struggle to be against the Soviet Union, in Europe, and prepared accordingly. Communism’s collapse came early; defeated by economics & popular resistance, instead.
Vietnam made politicians reluctant to put boots on the ground, which ironically prolonged conflicts.
