I bet they wouldn’t have complained about a vaccine or got excited about using horse de-wormer as a miracle cure….

In 1918 the Governments of the warring nations deliberately played down the epidemic, to keep public morale high. This led to hundreds of thousands of deaths, especially of young children.
But in 2020, Republicans knew their voters would do the job for them.

I read it during the pandemic. Highly recommended! It’s not as if they had any remedy. But lockdowns, quarantines, and masks were pretty effective in stopping the spread. Yup, young people were largely the victims unlike the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic of 2019-21 with cytokine storms where their immune systems would overreact and start attacking their own cells. People were smarter back then and actually took it seriously…well, eventually. They could have started earlier and canceled that parade in Philadelphia they threw to celebrate the end of the war. The book mostly covers medical developments that occurred because of the pandemic but their efforts didn’t come to fruition until after the catastrophe was over. It would have been better in those days to stay away from the medical establishment.

anyone worth a damn knows the Spanish flu was caused by the roll-out of the beginning of the quackcine religion mass-roll out, military studies proved decades ago the flu could not be transmitted by sneezing, spitting into and coughing right into the face of an infected to uninfected person. continue your belief in the leading cause of death: the state and its quack-cine Rockefeller medicine cult, to your own demise, the world will be better for your self-deletion.

The Black Death is estimated to have killed about 75 million people worldwide. At the time the global population was under 500 million, meaning roughly 15‑20 % of all humans then alive died from the pandemicwikipedia.org. When we compare that share to later pandemics—the 1918 Spanish flu (≈2.8 % of a 1.8 billion‑person world), COVID‑19 (≈0.3 % of a 8 billion‑person world), or earlier plagues—the Black Death remains the deadliest pandemic in terms of the proportion of the global population it wiped out.

About 50% of Europe’s 14th century population perished due to ‘The Black Death’. That is, as 50 million people died from the disease. A synthesis of medieval tax rolls, parish registers and archaeological surveys notes that the massive loss of life in the mid‑1340s left Europe’s population at about half its former size, and that recovery took about 150 years. So by any realistic measure, ‘The Black Death’ has been by far the worst known pandemic in history, and had the greatest impact on humankind and civilization.
