She ends with a plea: feminists must unite to challenge the repression of the female body, as only then can women be truly free.

All religion, culture, “civlization”, society, etc, is based on the control of women’s bodies by old, impotent men. If men can’t control women, there’s no such thing as society. Men who want to make rules for women are nothing more than losers who:
1) can’t get laid
2) are gay and embarrassed about it
3) are impotent, or have some other sexual problem or complex, and blame all women for it
No other animal behaves this way, with clothing, modesty, hiding of the body, hiding of the female of the species, hatred of the female. Most men are cowards when it comes to women and can only deal with women when there are DOZENS of rules controlling every aspect of a woman’s life and behaviour. Most men know this, especially those men who love religion and politics, because they love making rules for things they can’t control and are scared of - like women. Many men can’t stand being ridiculed by a woman, like being called fat or stupid or having his body parts made fun of - so they make rules for women, just like a pathetic little boy would do… most women know that men who act tough, angry and powerful are actually little boys and unable to satisfy them, but are probably eager to show them their big gun collection… I’m describing most of the men who post on this website…

Koloko, you must be a psychologist. Amazing. You described me to a “T”. I will encourage all the women I meet from this point on to walk around naked. I am guessing they may be offended by this, but I will do my best to explain to them that any ideas they have (besides the ones you so eloquently described) are society’s laws and they are wrong. As I will be a man explaining this to them I may be arrested for “man-splaining”, but I will endeavor to do my best. Perhaps this will remove my subconscious homosexuality and help me maintaina better erection. You are all that and a bag of chips. Thanks.

@koloko .. Wait , so all men do anything and everything to get laid, the hoover damn was built because from the engineer down to the concrete mixer to the financier all want to get laid. The farmer farms cause he wants to get laid.. Hmmm. Why are we not trading apples directly for sex then, it seems stupid to have money as middleware when we just think and breathe sex with women 24/7. I wonder if the engineering marvel that is the Konigsegg hinge door was because they just wanted to get laid not to see if it can be done.

It’s very reductionist, but yes - kind of. Not every man is Alexander the Great, out to conquer the world just because he can. The *average* man - you know, the vast majority of men whose jobs keep everything running - don’t have much ambition for themselves. They want a good life but working for it is hard. But ambition and its rewards are what attract women, so men work.

As frequently occurs on this site, the comments have devolved into an agenda-laden spat among posers who have not read this author.
She is a Cambridge academic whose work is rigorously researched. The arguments being made here have f-all to do with the content of this book.
Most of her research centers around such topics as women and girls who are beaten and killed for the crime of revealing their head hair in public.
But I guess some of you are okay with that.
